Educational Workshops for the National Museum in Warsaw

These workshops continue the Museum to Go series of interactive lessons developed by the National Museum in Warsaw. The aim of the project was to create a portable version of the lessons, allowing them to be transported anywhere and used to deliver engaging sessions for young people.

“Museum. Do It Yourself.”

How is an exhibition created – from selecting works of art and developing a concept to arranging and presenting the display? This workshop by the National Museum in Warsaw allows participants to explore the process by creating their own exhibitions.

For this project, I designed and produced a set of miniature artworks based on selected objects from the museum’s current collection. The miniature paintings and sculptures serve as building blocks from which participants can create their own displays, while learning about the principles of working with works of art and the fundamentals of exhibition design.

The workshop also includes tasks involving the preparation of exhibition labels, defining the exhibition’s central theme, developing its communication and presenting the completed display to the other participants.

“The Sculptor’s Workshop” and “In the Painter’s Studio”

How does a sculptor work? What does a painter’s studio look like? What materials and tools do artists use, and what takes them from their initial ideas to a finished work of art? This workshop introduces participants to traditional painting and sculpting practices through hands-on experience with materials and independent creative work.

For these sessions, we designed educational kits that allow participants to explore the properties of different sculpting materials and painting techniques. The painter’s studio is introduced through a large-scale jigsaw puzzle featuring a reproduction of Juliusz Kossak’s painting Henryk Rodakowski’s Studio in Paris.
The sculpting workshop begins with identifying four different sculpting materials hidden inside small bags.

After exploring their properties, participants create their own small-scale sculptural and painted studies. The workshop concludes with a presentation of the resulting works in a shared mini-exhibition.
