The project was carried out in collaboration with Touchideas and Studio Ganszyniec for the Polish furniture manufacturer Black Red White. Its aim was to establish a new level of quality and create an entirely new product segment for the brand. The project resulted in several complete ranges of cabinet and upholstered furniture.
In 2016, Touchideas invited me to join the project and lead the design team tasked with opening up a new furniture segment for BRW. The project was also intended to introduce the brand to a new customer group and significantly refresh its product portfolio.
A team of five worked for more than two years on around eight cabinet furniture collections and four sofa ranges.
The design work was preceded by a year of market research carried out by Touchideas. This resulted in detailed briefs that formed the basis for the subsequent design process. As the project progressed, some collections were put on hold, while others were combined or reworked in response to changing assumptions and the findings from successive stages of development.
In the spring of 2018, the new furniture ranges were launched in all major Black Red White showrooms across Poland.
My role included project leadership and team management, collaboration with three BRW factories during product implementation, supervision and consultation throughout product development, testing and preparation for sale, as well as hands-on design work.
